HICS Drills / Exercises

Emergency preparedness drills and exercises should be based on the hospital’s emergency management plan and the National Incident Management System (NIMS). Exercise planning must include criteria that will allow assessment of how well the hospital performed under the conditions of a specific emergency or disaster. DQE conducts onsite drills and exercises that specifically test the understanding and utilization of HICS by hospital managers. In particular, scenarios are developed and actions/decision making are assessed based on a range of activities stemming from plan activation, utilization of HICS and emergency response actions to problem-solving methodology and recovery activities. DQE works with the client to create a training program that is challenging yet achievable and supports the hospital’s overall mission and preparedness plan.
