Decon Drills / Exercises

Although infrequent, toxic agent releases remain one of the most common man-made “disasters” hospital face. Contaminated victims routinely seek out the closest hospital for care, posing varying challenges to hospital personnel. Patient care requires special handling procedures to avoid further injury, staff must don infrequently used protective gear, and procedures must be implemented quickly to reduce the contamination load. All steps must occur seamlessly in a hectic environment.

DQE’s Emergency Decontamination Drills and Exercises are geared towards assessing and enhancing the hospital decon team’s recognition and response actions, patient care activities and incident management utilization. The scope of the training is site specific and can be orchestrated to meet Joint Commission/HFAP’s external exercise requirement. Immediate feedback as well as a written After Action Report is included.
