A full-scale mock disaster exercise was conducted by firefighters, police officers, and Emergency Operation Center officials on Friday, Oct. 1 in Jackson Center, OH. The disaster training lets Emergency Managers and First Responders assess their HazMat capabilities, emergency plans, policies, and procedures during the simulated disaster situation.

According to a Shelby County LEPC press release, the exercise focused on decision-making, coordination, and integration with other organizations during a motor vehicle crash that resulted in a hazardous materials release. The decon zone included DQE’s decontamination pools and the Indestructo decontamination shower system for decontaminating a HazMat responder after stopping a leak in a tanker truck.
